Victoria Akers, age 62 of Pikeville, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at her residence. She was born on February 2, 1950, the daughter of the late Kenis and Goldie Newsome. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Preston Newsome, and two sisters, Inette Hamilton and Rosetta Coleman.
Victoria was a homemaker and was a member of the Little Nancy Old Regular Baptist Church.
She is survived by one brother, Harrison Newsome, of Huntington, WV, and by three sisters, Maxie Rice of Pikeville, KY, Anna (Roy) Smith of Pikeville, KY, and Brenda King of Shelbyville, KY.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2012 after 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Chuck Hall and Glen Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in the Newsome Branch Cemetery.
Special services will be held on Sunday and Monday nights at 7 p.m.
