Victoria Akers, age 62 passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012 at her home. Victoria was born on Feb. 8, 1950 to her parents the late Kenis Newsome and Goldie Newsome. She was a homemaker and a member of Little Nancy Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with her parents, Victoria was preceded in death by one brother, Preston Newsome and two sisters, Inette Hamilton and Rosetta Coleman. She is survived by one brother, Harrison Newsome of Huntington, WV., three sisters, Maxie Rice of Pikeville, Ky., Anna (Roy) Smith of Pikeville, Ky., Brenda King of Shelbyville, Ky., and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Sunday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Sunday and Monday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home wtih Chuck Hall and Glen Bentley officiating. The burial will follow in the Newsome Branch Cemetery at Penny Road.
