Edward Leander Young

Edward Leander Young age 83 passed away Monday, January 10th, 2011 at the Mt. View Health Care Center. Edward was born on Feb. 28th, 1927 to his parents the late James Young and Bessie Smith Young. He was the husband of the late Martha Howell Young, a coal miner, and a member of Pikeville Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with his wife and parents, Edward was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Jane Collins, and three brothers, A.C. Young, Landon Young, and Robert Young. Edward is survived by one daughter, Edith B. Brewer, two sons, James E. Young, Bennie F. Young, four sisters, Ona Hinkle, Sophie Howell, Easter Salisbury Rackey, Emogene Young, three brothers, Harry Young, Paul Scotty Young, James Jackie Young, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at Island Creek old Regular Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday at 12 noon at the Island Creek Old Regular Baptist Church with Virgil Ratliff, Paul Coleman, and others officiating. The burial will follow in the Howell Cemetery at Island Creek.
