Lexie Francis Newsome

Lexie Francis Newsome age 93 passed away Tuesday, January 25th, 2011 at the Signature Health Care Center. Lexie was born on Nov. 26th, 1917 to her parents the late Will Bentley and Annie Fleming Bentley. She was the wife of the late Hillard Newsome, a homemaker, and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church at Robinson Creek. Along with her husband and parents, Lexie was preceded in death by three sons, Freddie, David, and Don and one daughter, Betty, one brother, Marrow Bentley, and five sisters, Essie Bentley, Tacie Mitchell, Pearl Hamilton, Mary Bryant, and Liza Bell Bentley. Lexie is survived by four sons, Denver (Mary) Newsome of Powells Creek, Denzil (Fern) Newsome of Little Robinson Creek, Larry (Gequetta) Newsome of Jonancy, Jimmy Newsome of Jonancy, two daughters, Jettie (Phillip) Young of Charleston, WV., Sharon (Jackie) Harris of Raccoon Creek, twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Special services will be Thursday and Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, January 29th, 2011 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Dewey Roberts, Paul Coleman, Floyd Compton, and others officiating. The burial will follow in the Damron Cemetery at Little Robinson.
