Ralph E. York age 82 passed away Thursday, February 3rd, 2011 at the Pikeville Medical Center. He was born on April 30th, 1928 to his parents the late William G. York and Hettie Fields York. He was the husband of the late Helen Fields York, a coal miner for Kentland Elkhorn Coal Company, and a member of the Enterprise Old Regular Baptist Church. He also served his country honorably in the United States Army during Korean War. Along with his wife and parents, Ralph was preceded in death by four brothers, George, Elmo, Lee, and Coy, and three sisters, Ethel, Reva, and Ruth. Ralph is survived by one son, Tim (Kim) York of Winchester, Ky., two daughters, Regina (Ted) York of Roanoke, Va., Karen (Byron) Vaughn of Indianapolis, Indiana, one sister, Marie Odum of Gate City, Va., nine grandchildren, David (Christy) & Matthew Pugh, Nathan & Andrew Queen, Amanda and Ashley York, Allison Cook, Callie & Elizabeth Kimbrough, three great-grandchildren, David Curtis and Joseph Matthew Pugh, & Alaina Cook, special friend, Loretta Ruth. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday, February 5th, 2011 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with James Tackett, Teddy Honaker, and others officiating. The burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
