Elder Alvin Brown age 91 passed away Tuesday, April 19th, 2011 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Alvin was born on Nov. 4th, 1919 to his parents the late Wilburn Brown and Tanie Johnson Brown. He was the husband of the late Ruth G. Damron Brown, a retired coal miner, and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a purple heart recipiant. Along with his wife and parents, Alvin was preceded in death by three sisters, Bertha Mae, Rosa Cole, and Vassie Flanery, and one brother, Northern Brown. Alvin is survived by one daughter, Doressa (Eddie) Branham of Robinson Creek, four sons, Randall G. (Helen) Brown of Pikeville, Gary D. (Esther) Brown of Robinson Creek, Scottie D. (Tereshia) Brown of Robinson Creek, Ernie L. (Dianna) Brown of Virgie, Ky., three brothers, Ballard Brown of Columbus, Ohio, Johnny Brown of Louisa, Ky., Russell Brown of Virgie, Ky., thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Enterprise Old Regular Baptist Church. The funeral will be Friday April 22nd, 2011 at 11a.m. at the Enterprise Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. The burial will follow in the Brown Family Cemetery at Sugar Camp Branch.
