James Owen Elkins age 73 passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Pikeville Medical Center. James was born on Feb. 15th, 1938 to his parents the late Morgan T. Elkins and Ada Grimes Elkins. He was the husband of the late Pauline Isaac Elkins, retired from the Ky. State Police Driver's Licensing, and pastor and preacher at Lighthouse Baptist Church. Along with his wife and parents, James was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Rebekah Williamson, and three sisters, Ruth Elkins, Mildred Schindler, and Lois Holbrook. James is survived by two daughters, Alina (Reggie) Williamson of Pikeville, Paula (James) Johnson of Evansville, Indiana, three brothers, Morgan T. Elkins Jr. of Catlettsburg, Ky., Roger Elkins of Johnson City, Tn., Ernie Elkins of Jonesborough, Tn., four sisters, Phyllis Strouth of Wise, Va., Lavonne Read of Dayton, Ohio, Jackie Bates of Jonesborough, Tn., Charlene McGuire of Jonesborough, Tn., and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday from 6p.m. to 9p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday May 13th, 2011 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Joe Coleman officiating. The burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
