Chester Coleman 90, of Mossy Bottom Layne, Pikeville, Ky, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at the Hazard Hospice Inpatient Unit. He was born April 13, 1921 at Marrowbone, KY. Chester was the son of the late Claude and Leatha Rasnick Coleman. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by one son: Claudie Coleman; two brothers: Audrey and John Coleman; two sisters: Guila Howe and Opal Coleman. Chester was a retired employee of the City of Pikeville since 1958. He was a Kentucky Colonel, a founding member of the Pike County Rescue Squad and Pikeville Fire Department, and a member of the Pikeville Freewill Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife JoAnn Bunch Coleman of Pikeville, KY; two sons: Gary Coleman and his wife Angela; and Joe Michael Coleman and his wife Janet; five daughters: Katherine Layne and her husband Gary; Chessie Wolf and her husband Robert; Marquetta Harris and her husband Anthony; Barbara Meade and her husband Jimmy; Jewel Fannin and her husband Steven; three sisters: Gladys Wills, Christine Caldwell, Faye Ann Wagner all of Michigan, twelve grandchildren, thirteen Great Grandchildren, and one Great Great Grandchild. Visitation will be 6 P.M. Sunday May 22, at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with special services Sunday and Monday at 7 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted 1 P.M. Tuesday May 23, at the Cowpen Freewill Baptist Church with Don Lee, Roger Ratliff, James Bentley, Jimmy Jack Adkins, and others officiating. The burial will then follow in the Johnson Memorial Park at Pikeville.
