James Elmer Hopson

James Elmer Hopson, age 68, passed away Tuesday, May 24th, 2011 at his home. James was born on Feb. 17th, 1943 to his parents the late George Forester Hopson and Florence Gibson Hopson. He was the husband of the late Mary Wilma Tackett, and a retired coal miner. Along with his wife and parents, James was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara May Hopson. James is survived by one son, James Gordon Hopson of PIkeville, one daughter, Beatrice Sanders of Rockhouse, Ky., two brothers, Johnny Hopson of Dorton, Ky., Jimmy Hopson of North Carolina, three sisters, Ruby Lee Dutton of Capital Heights, Maryland, Elizabeth Jane Stanley of Buffalo, Va., Celia Hopson of Coeburn, Va., five grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday May 27th, 2011 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Jimmy Hopson, Kevin Hopson, and Richard Gibson officiating. The burial will follow in the Mullins Cemetery at Skeet Rock, Va.
