Billy Joe Porter

Billy Joe Porter 86, of Dorton, KY, passed away Friday June 10, 2011 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, KY. He was born October 25, 1924 in Logan, West Virginia. He was the son of the late Millard and Bessie Stewart Porter. Billy was a disabled Army veteran of World War 2 and a member of the Dorton Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers. Billy is survived by his wife Doris Porter; one son: Gary Porter of Lexington KY; one brother: Millard Jr. Porter; two grandchildren: Megan and Dustin Porter; and one great-granddaughter Kaya Porter. Visitation will be Sunday June 12, at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with special services held Sunday and Monday night at 7 P.M. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1 P.M. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Teddy Tackett officiating. The burial will follow in the Belcher Cemetery at Blaze Branch.
