Luther West

Luther West, age 66 passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Luther was born on Nov. 26, 1944 to his parents the late Luther James West and Bessie Branham West. Luther was the wife of Shirley Sue Sykes West, a retired employee for Whayne Supply Company, and a member of the Poor Bottom Freewill Baptist Church. He also belonged to the Pikeville Masonic Lodge #375. Along with his wife, Luther is survived by one son, James (Tish) West of Lookout, Ky., two daughters, Anita (Johnny) Rowe of Marrowbone, Ky., Jennifer (Jason) Whaley of Dandridge, Tn., one sister, Loretta Gibson, six grandchildren, Michael, Stacy, Alex, Breanna, Zachary, and Chartanya, two great grandchildren, Brayden and Gracie and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Sunday July 17, at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with James Tackett and Richard Gibson officiating. The burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
