Mabel Gillespie Robinson

Mabel Thacker Gillespie Robinson, age 89 passed away Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, Ky. Mabel was born on Nov. 24th, 1921 to her parents the late Preston Thacker and Mary Robinson Thacker. She was the wife of the late Buster Robinson, a homemaker, and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. Along with her husband and parents, Mabel was preceded in death by her first husband, Warren Gillespie, one son, Vester Darrell, two daughters, Linda Carol and Brenda Sue, five brothers, Curtis, Vester, Ray, Chester, & Jesse Thacker, and two sisters, Minnie Adkins and Nancy Jane Terrell. Mabel is survived by two sons, John K. (Phyllis) Gillespie of Louisville, Ky., Roger Neal (Beverly) Gillespie of Louisville, Ky., three daughters, Mary E. (Denver) Newsome of Powells Creek, Teresa Lynn (Jack) Rich of Greasy Creek, Joyce V. (Frank) Coleman of Raccoon, Ky., one sister, Emogene "Jean" Scutchfield of Michigan, nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Thursday and Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Paul Coleman, Bobby Ray Robinson, Teddy Honaker, Jim Justice, Roger Justice and others officiating. The burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
