Manford Newsome

Manford Newsome age 70 passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 in Rock Castle. Manford was born on June 11, 1941 to his parents the late Sanford Newsome and Mertie Newsome. He was the husband of the late Norma Newsome, a retired coal miner and welder for Beth Steel Coal Company, and a member of the freewill baptist church. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. Along with his wife and parents, Manford was preceded in death by one son, Manford Joseph Newsome. Manford is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Tackett of Dorton, three sons, Steve Newsome of Dorton, Jeff Newsome of Dorton, Jamie Newsome of Shelby Gap, one sister, Wanda Miller of Pikeville, eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be Saturday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Saturday and Sunday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Monday Dec. 19, 2011 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Clyde Bentley and Teddy Tackett officiating. The burial will follow in the Mullins Family Cemetery at Dorton, Ky.
