Onie L. Varney

Onie L. Mullins Varney, age 87 passed away Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Peace River Medical Center in Florida. Onie was born on Dec. 11, 1924 to her parents the late Coyen Ledford and Fannie Stewart. She was the wife of the late Ralph Varney, a homemaker, mother, mail carrier, and a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with her husband and parents, Onie was preceded in death by first husband, Earnest Mullins, one daughter, Peggy Louise Cornett, one grandson, Earnest Mullins, one great-grandson, Michael Mullins, and four sisters, Thelma, Martha, Edna, and Helen. Onie is survived by one son, Michael (Darlene) Mullins of Vermilion, Ohio, two daughters, Lena Carol Mullins of North Point, Florida, Judy Ann Martin of North Point, Florida, three step children, Ralph (Carol) Varney Jr. of Pikeville, Jack Ronald Varney of Cincinnati, Ohio, Larry (Dimples) Varney of Shelbyville,Ky., one sister, Ruth Helvey of Elizabethtown, Ky., three brothers, Thomas Coyen (Ruth Ann) Ledford II of South Point, Ohio, Cecil (Mary Jane) Thornton Ledford of Orange Park, Florida, Roger Wayne (Judy) Rose of Knoxville, Tn., seven grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, several step great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 10a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Thomas Coyen Ledford II officiating. The burial will follow in the Neil Roberts Cemetery at Caney.
