John Brown, age 62, of Pikeville, Ky, passed away on Friday, January, 20, 2012 at the Pikeville Medical Center. He was born on November 13, 1949, the son of the late Northern and Alverta Roberts Brown. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Brown. John was a prep plant superintendant for the Teco Coal Company. He proudly served his nation with the U.S. Army and was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Mullins Brown, by one son, Johnny Shane Brown of Pikeville, Ky, by a daughter, Jondra Branham of Stanville, KY, by five brothers, Ray Brown, Billy Brown, Northern Gayle Brown, James Russell Brown and Charles Michael Brown all of Virgie, KY, by five sisters, Myrtle Alloway of Butler, IN, Rosie Justice of Auburn, IN, Dorothy Muncy of Columbus, OH, Jean Adams, and Janice Lewis, both of Virgie, KY, by two grandchildren, Conner and Abigail Branham, and by a host of loving family and friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2012, after 6 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Family Cemetery at Little Robinson Creek. Special services will be held on Sunday night at 7 p.m.
