Glen Jewel Charles age 89 passed away Thursday, January 26, 2012 at his home. Glen was born on August 19, 1922 to his parents the late James Allen Charles and Effie Scott Charles. He was the husband of the late Pauline Adkins Charles, a retired coal miner, and a member of the Grassy Freewill Baptist Church. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. Along with his wife and parents, Glen was preceded in death by two brothers, Herald Charles, John B. Charles, and one sister, Laura Elizabeth Newsome. Glen is survived by two sons, Glen Jr. Charles of Williamson, WV., Larry Charles of Zebulon, Ky., four daughters, Lorraine Hunt of Meta, Ky., Kathlene Cantrell of Richmond, Ky., Jewel Dean Slone of Zebulon, Ky., Patty Adkins of Zebulon, Ky., ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Saturday and Sunday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Monday, January 30, 2012 at 1p.m. at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Brad Williamson and other Grassy Freewill Baptist Ministers. The burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
