Charles Bruce Clevinger, 89, of Ashland, formerly of Marrowbone, died May 9, 2012, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. A native of Hellier, Ky., he was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Alcie Clevinger; his wife, Joyce Coleman Clevinger; a son, Gregory Clevinger; brothers, Ralph and Jack Clevinger; and sister, Doris Hatfield. A veteran of World War II, he flew B25’s over “the hump” in the Himalayas, in the China-Burma-India Theater. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Alys and Tim Preston; a granddaughter, Celeste Sizemore and husband Carl, of Pikeville; sisters, Mary Hatfield of Ashland and Joyce Freels of Oneida, Tenn.; many nieces, nephews and cousins, and special friend, Marie Easterling of Marrowbone. Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lucas and Sons Funeral Home in Pikeville by the Rev. Roger Johnson. Entombment will follow at Annie E. Young Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Community Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Road, Ashland, KY 41101.
