Phyllis Jean "Ruby" Hamlin

Phyllis Jean "Ruby" Hamlin, age 78 passed away Monday, July 2, 2012 at her home. She was born on Nov. 16, 1933 to her parents the late Raymond and Lona Layne. Ruby was the wife of Frank Hamlin, a homemaker, and a member of the Blessed Hope Freewill Baptist Church. Along with her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Hamlin and Billy Joe Hamlin, and one infant daughter, one sister, Shirble Coleman, and five brothers, Ted Layne, Freddy Ratliff, Ray Ratliff, Billy Ratliff, and Ralph Ratliff. Along with her husband, Ruby is survived by one daughter, Angela Chaney of Prestonsburg, Ky., two sons, Donnie Ray Hamlin of Pikeville, Ky., Richard Franklin Hamlin of Pikeville, Ky., one sister, Christine Robinson of Elkhorn City, Ky., five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, July 6, 2012 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Tommy England, Goble Zellers, and others officiating. the burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
