Edwin Griffith

Edwin M. Griffith age 90 passed away Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012 at his home. Edwin was born on Dec. 5, 1921 to his parents the late William Tolvy Griffith and Fannie Griffith. He was the husband of Alice Marie Hunt Griffith, retired coal miner and owner/operator Griffith's Sawmill, and a member of the Church of God for 67 years. Along with his parents, Edwin was preceded in death by seven brothers, Arnold, Ermel, Cobert, Roy, Ronald, Troy, & Fred Griffith, three sisters, Lura Irick, Tina Abshire, Extra Griffith, one grandson Kevin Fields, one great grandchild, Madison Bailee Frederick, and one son in law, Eugene Fields. Along with his wife, Edwin is survived by two sons, Eddie (Kathy) Griffith of Mouthcard, William "Tattoo" (Becky) Griffith of Pikeville, five daughters, Rosenell (Eugene) Fields of Mouthcard, Patty (Billy) Freeman of Steele, Clara (Worley) Taylor of Mouthcard, Patricia (Tish) Griffith of Pikeville, Angela (Steve) Burchett of Pikeville, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Randall Good officiating. The burial will follow in the Big Rock Memorial Park at Big Rock, Va.
