Helen Marie Potter

Helen Marie Potter, age 70 passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Helen was born on July 3, 1942 to her parents the late Fred Damron and Evelyn Harrison Damron. She was a member of the Little Creek Old Regular Baptist Church and a retired registered nurse for the Pike County Health Department. Along with her parents, Helen was preceded in death by one son, Michael A. Braden, one sister, Mabel Jean, and one step grandson, Kevin Slone. Along with her husband Col. Chester D. Potter, Helen is survived by one son, John A. Braden of Kingsport, Tn., one daughter, Paula (Roy) Kazee of Danville, Ky., two step sons, Dennis (Haroletha) Potter of Prestonsburg, Ky., Steve (Sharon) Potter of Prestonsburg, Ky., one step daughter, Sherry (Greg) Shepherd of Prestonsburg, Ky., three brothers, Harold (Flo) Damron of Maryville, Tn., Herbert Damron of Pikeville, David (Pat) Damron of Pikeville, two sisters, Nella Jo Stiver of Fairborn, Ohio, Violet (Roger) Meade of Pikeville, Ky., six step grandchildren, several step great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Sunday at 6:30p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Sunday and Monday at 7p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 12 noon at the Little Creek Old Regular Baptist Church with Teddy Honaker, Mike Justice, Danny Belcher, & Others officiating. The burial will follow in the Potter Family Cemetery.
