Marie C. Long

Marie C. Long age 87 passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the Pikeville Medica Center. Marie was born on July 10, 1925 to her parents the late Ralph Childers and Essie Bartley Childers. She was the wife of the late Orbin Kern Long, a former employee for Black Lung Association and the U.M.W.A., and a member of the Grace Baptist Church at Shelbiana, Ky. Along with her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by three sons, Arthur Lee Long, Robert Long, and Wayne Long, two sisters, Wilma Hackney, Muriel Childers, and two brothers, L.P. Childers, and Clarence Childers. Marie is survived by three sons, Ervil (Masaka) Long of Tampa Bay, Florida, Roger (Maxine) Long of South Boston, Va., Andrew (Nella) Long of Pulaski, Ohio, daughter in law, Ethel Long, two sisters, Avonell Childers of Stuart, Florida, Rita Ann (Henry) Moore of Elkhorn City, Ky., fourteen grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Saturday night at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Tommy England and others officiating. The burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Park.
