Richard C. Tackett

Richard C. Tackett age 90 passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 at the Parkview Nursing Home. He was born on Feb. 22, 1922 to his parents the late Pierce Tackett and Nancy Tackett. Richard was the husband of the late Victoria Ray Tackett, a sawmill worker for Coolidge Johnson Company, and a member of the Old Union Regular Baptist Church. Along with his wife and parents, Richard was preceded in death by two brothers, Noble and Clell Tackett, two sisters, Mary Elswick, Bessie Brandenburg, one daughter in law Rose Tackett, one son in law, Tarlis Tackett. Richard is survived by four sons, Jackie Randall (Shelby) Tackett, Teddy Bruce (Sonja) Tackett, Lindy Tackett, Earl Gene (Beth) Tackett, one daughter, Katherine Tackett, one step son, Jackie W. Damron, step daughter, Rose Sutton, one brother, Lavern Tackett, two sisters, Leslie Tacket, Barbara Sloan, twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-three great grandchildren, twenty one great-great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Monday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Monday and Tuesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Carson Wright, Jeff Little, James Tackett, and others officiating. The burial will follow in the Noble E. Tackett Cemetery at Virgie.
