Arlie Potter

November 15, 1923 — October 17, 2012

Arlie Potter (Mountain Boy) age 88, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at his home. Arlie was born on Nov. 15, 1923 to his parents the late Samuel Newsome and Mary Potter Newsome. He was the husband of the late Iva Robbins Potter, and a coal miner. Along with his wife and parents, Arlie was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Keith Potter, one daughter, Freda Gay Potter, three brothers, Joe, George, and Harrison, three sisters, Alice, Lizzie, and Roxie. Arlie is survived by three sons, Arnold Ray Potter of Dorton, Ky., Ralph Lee Potter of Dorton, Ky., Arlie Jr. Potter of Hustonville, Ky., one daughter, Pamela Lynn Belcher of Shelby Gap, Ky., one step daughter, Charlcie Beyersdoerfer of Stanford, Ky., nine grandchildren, six step grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends who will miss him dearly. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Dorton General Baptist Church. Church services will be Thursday and Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 1p.m. at the Dorton General Baptist Church with Buddy Collins and Doug Johnson officiating. The burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
