Jim Ed McGuire, age 71 passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Jim was born on April 17, 1941 to his parents the late James Corbett McGuire and Beulah Blizzard McGuire. He was the husband of the late Lillie Mae Cable McGuire, a retired miner for Reedy Coal Company, a believer of the Freewill Baptist Faith, and a member of the Masonic Lodge #856 Jenkins, Ky. Along with his wife and parents, Jim was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry McGuire, two brothers, Robbie and Ronnie McGuire. Jim is survived by one daughter, Marlene Horton, one brother, Roger McGuire, one sister, Susie Hockensmith, two grandchildren, Heather Nicole Collins, Ashley Horton, four great-grandchildren, Jayda, Mackenzie, Ethan, & Kera Collins and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Burdine Freewill Baptist Church. Church services will be Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, Nov. 16, at 11a.m. at the Burdine Freewill Baptist Church with Bill Craft and others officiating. The burial will follow in the Rob Ratliff Cemetery at Elkhorn Creek.
