Virginia Stewart

STEWART, Virginia of Saint Petersburg, Florida and previously of Trenton, Michigan and Virgie, Kentucky, passed away November 13, 2012 at the age of 95. Virginia was born in 1917 in Virgie, Kentucky, the last child of the late Kendrick (Toddy) Johnson and Zuella Casebolt Johnson. Seven siblings preceded her in death, four brothers, Garrett, Homer, Lawrence, and Charles Johnson, and three sisters, Fanny, and Fontella Johnson, and Beulah Scalf. Before her retirement Virginia was the owner and operator of the beauty salon “Coiffeurs by Virginia” in Trenton, Michigan for many years. She was married to the late Steve Stewart for 57 years who preceded her in death in 1993. A dedicated wife, loving Aunt, and friend she was active in church activities in Trenton Michigan, St. Petersburg, Florida and was a member of Aldersgate Methodist Church at Virgie, Kentucky. She was passionate about family and was loved by all. Survivors include four generations of nieces and nephews as well as her caregiver of many years and family friend Jan Guthrie of Seminole, Florida. Funeral services for Mrs. Stewart will be held at Lucas and Son Funeral Home in Pikeville, Kentucky on November 17, 2012 at 11:30 AM. Interment will be at the Johnson Family Cemetery on Indian Creek Road in Virgie. Visitation will be November 16, 2012 from 6 PM to 8 PM and one hour prior to the service on November 17, 2012.
