Adam Adkins Jr. age 64 passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at the Hazard Hospice Care Center. Adam was born on January 26, 1948 to his parents the late Adam Adkins and Elsie Rose Adkins Lawson. Adam was the husband of Lorean Hylton Adkins, a retired coal miner, member of American Legion, and a minister at Rockhouse Unity Freewill Baptist Church. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Along with his parents, Adam was preceded in death by four brothers, Delbert, Denver, Golden, Tommy, and three sisters, Gladys, Gretis, and Josephine. In addition to his wife, Adam is survived by three sons, Adam Christopher (Yvonne) Adkins of Rockhouse, Chad Allen (Cindi) Adkins of Millard, William Darrell (Gina) Coleman of Poor Bottom, one daughter, Rebecca Sue (Boo) Williams of Rockhouse, four brothers, Jimmy Ray Fields, Johnny Rowe, Dennis Dean Adkins, Elbert Adkins, three sisters, Betty Coleman, Dorlene Shell, Ruth Adkins, eight grandchildren, Kea, Hunter, Kelsie, Isaac, Jacob, Benji, Jerrica, & River, one great grandchild, Riley, one special God Grandson, Gabriel, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Rockhouse Unity Freewill Baptist Church. Church services will be Thursday and Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday Dec. 8, 2012 at 12 noon at the Rockhouse Unity Freewill Baptist Church with Rockhouse Unity Freewill Baptist Ministers, Eddie Street, Neil Coleman, Terry Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
