Sonny Elswick

Sonny Elswick, age 76, of Bernstadt, KY, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at the St. Joseph Hospital in London, KY. He was born on April 22, 1936, the son of the late Grover Clarence (Coffeesack) and Emma Blackburn Elswick. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by three sisters, Emogene West, Goldina Ray, and Ina Gay Ray, and by two brothers, Floyd Burl Elswick and Robert Lewis Elswick. Before his retirement, Sonny worked for General Motors. He was a Kentucky Colonel and was a member of the UAW Local #780-549. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Ann Maynard Elswick, by three sons, Robert Neal (Theresa) Elswick, Alan Dale (Beth) Elswick, and Sonny Meredith Elswick, by two brothers, Willie Fonso Elswick and Grover Lawrence Elswick, by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2012 from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Michael Elswick and Paul Varney officiating. Burial will follow in the Chatham Cemetery in Chatham, OH. Special services will be held on Friday night at 7 p.m.
