Burton D. Bentley age 95 passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Burton was born on May 16, 1917 to his parents the late Alexander LaFayette Bentley and Ida Belle Coleman Bentley. He was the husband of the late Thelma Long Bentley, a retired coal miner for Republic Steel Coal Company, and a member of the Samaria Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with his wife and parents, Burton was preceded in death by one brother, Hammond Bentley and five sisters, Verna, Stella, Elmo, Mellie, and Patty. Burton is survived by one son, Charles (Kathryn) Bowling of The Villages, Florida, one daughter, Shirley B. Miler of New Port Richey, Florida, three grandchildren, Deborah Lynn Schmitt, David Bentley, J.D. Miller, seven great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Wednesday and Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, March 29, 2013 at 11a.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. The burial will follow in the Bentley Family Cemetery at Harless Creek.
