Freeman Clay Johnson, age 90, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Freeman was born on June 24, 1922 to his parents the late Robert Johnson and Bessie Addington Johnson. He was the husband of Betty Lee Johnson, retired from the Ky Dept of Hwy, and a member of the Church of Christ. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. Along with his parents, Freeman was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Bentley. In addition to his wife, Freeman is survived by one son, Robert (Margaret) Johnson of Myra, two daughters, Gayla (David) Bentley of St. Louis, Mo., Remona (Greg) Chapman of St. Louis, Mo., two step children, Suzette Johnston and Chris Rich both of Myra, Ky., one sister, June J. Bentley of Myra, Ky., two brothers, Frank Johnson and Fleetwood Johnson both of Bean Station, Tn., eleven grandchildren, twenty-great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Saturday at 8p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, June 16, 2013 at 2p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Greg Johnson officiating. The burial will follow in the Phillips Branch Cemetery at Myra.
