Teddy Tackett

Teddy Tackett, age 61, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2013 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Teddy was born on Nov. 1, 1951 to his parents the late Fred Tackett and Icy Mullins Tackett. He was the husband of Patricia "Katie" Wright Tackett, a retired coal miner for Cam Coal Company, and pastor of Dorton Freewill Baptist Church for 29 years. Along with his parents, Teddy was preceded in death by one brother, Lester Carl Tackett, and two sisters, Ada T. Mullins and Lucille Howell. In addition to his wife, Teddy is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Tackett Bentley, Icy Michelle Tackett, one son, Theodore Shane (Amanda) Tackett, three brothers, Leon, McCoy, and Freddie Tackett, six grandchildren, Olivia K. (Ethan) Young, Tanner Bentley, Erica Wright, Allison Wright, Abigail Wright, and Kaleb Tackett (Sugar), and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Monday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Monday and Tuesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Dorton Freewill Baptist Ministers and Kevin Bowling officiating. The burial will follow in the Lester Tackett Cemetery at Lick Fork.
