Shirley Adkins

Shirley Church Adkins, age 65, passed away Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at the Holston Valley Medical Center. Shirley was born on June 27, 1948 to her parents the late Howard S. Oaks and Hattie Wright Oaks. She was the wife of the late Jimmy Adkins, a homemaker, and a believer of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. Along with her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by one son, Tim Church, two brothers, Carl and Clifford Oaks. Shirley is survived by two sons, Steven Church, Doug Church, one daughter, Crystal Church, four brothers, Aubrey, Howard J., Ernest, and David Oaks, three sisters, Melba White, Melster Hall, Irene Cook, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral will be Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at 12 noon at the Lucas and Son Funeral Home with Phil Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the Rob Ratliff Cemetery.
