Mirkie Bentley, 74, of Little Creek, passed away Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Mirkie was born on March 7, 1939 in Floyd County, Ky, the daughter of the late Kanawha and Draxie Thornsbury. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ernest Thornsbury and four infant siblings. Mirkie was a faithful member of the Old Regular Baptist Church for over 50 years and belonged at Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church at Ford's Branch. Mirkie is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Hayse Bentley, two sons, Randy (Tyla) Bentley of Wallingford, Ky., Greg (Marquetta) Bentley of Shelbiana, Ky., two daughters, Kathy (George) Johnson, Patty (Wayne) Robinson both of Caney Hwy., fourteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, five brothers, Veral (Hazel) Thornsbury, J.E. (Mildred) Thornsbury, Ralph (Ida Mae) Thornsbury, all of Little Creek, Arnold (Cathy) Thornsbury of Pikeville, four sisters, Mabel (Bethard) Damron, Mattie (Melvin) Bentley, both of Little Creek, Shirley (Monte) Iversen of Collins Hwy., Hattie (Mac) Bentley of Springport, Mi., sister in law, Gracie Adkins, and a host of loving nieces, nephews that loved her dearly. Visitation will be Saturday at 6p.m. at Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church. Church services will be Saturday and Sunday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Monday Oct. 21, 2013 at 1p.m. at the Elizabeth Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. The burial will follow in the Little Creek Community Cemetery.
