Franklin D. Johnson age 80 passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013 at his home. Franklin was born on Aug. 11, 1933 to his parents the late Lonzo Johnson and Sylvia Potter Johnson. He was the husband of Dorothy (Perk) Johnson, a retired parts salesman for Bruce Walters Ford for over 32 years, a member of the Elkhorn City D.A.V. Chapter 140, and he was also a member of the Poor Bottom Freewill Baptist Church. Franklin served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Along with his parents, Franklin was preceded in death by one special niece, Mary Johnson, one sister, Betty Sue Thacker. In addition to his wife, Franklin is survived by one son, Gary (Dedra) Johnson of Pikeville, two grandchildren, Matthew and Kayla, special nieces and nephews, Charles Hobbs, Carolyn Adkins, Bernie Roberts, Terry Gibson, two brothers, Thomas and Kenis Johnson, one sister, Lois Ann Litte, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Monday at 6p.m. at the Poor Bottom Freewill Baptist Church. Church services will be Monday and Tuesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at 1p.m. at the Poor Bottom Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
