Homer Kinder, age 90, passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Homer was born on March 29, 1923 to his parents the late Anthony Kinder and Myrtle Kendrick Kinder. Homer was the husband of June Bevins Kinder, a retired coal miner for Kentland Elkhorn Coal Company, and a believer of the Old Regular Baptist Faith. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II. Along with his parents, Homer was preceded in death by one brother, Hobert Kinder and four sisters, Edna Thacker, Mae Saler, Faye Smith, and Ruth Kendrick. Along with his wife, Homer is survived by two daughters, Judy Kinder Crawford, Teresa Lynn Kinder, one grandson, Eric Kinder, one brother, Herman Kinder, two sisters, Sarah Justice, Lorraine Hall, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Saturday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Brian Horton officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Mausoleum. Johns Creek D.A.V. will perform military services.
