Fred Baker, age 89, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Fred was born on May 20, 1924 to his parents the late Ira Baker and Frankie Baker. He was the husband of Hester Baker, a coal miner, and a member of the Dorton Old Regular Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Fred was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Baker, Gary Baker, seven brothers, Alvis, Tom, Willie, Bobby, Anthony, Ruben, and Dee Baker, and Four sisters, Mindy Sanders Wright, Becky Stiltner, Spicy Mullins, Mazie Rose. Along with his wife, Fred is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Glen) Beverly, one son, Mike (Gail) Baker, two daughter-in-laws, Peggy and Cheryl Baker, one brother, Mayo Baker, ten grandchildren, Shannon Beverly, Jason Beverly, Rebel Baker Chreste, Brady Baker, Fred Baker, Brandy Baker, Brad Baker, Lynton Taylor Jr., James Taylor, William Brown II, seventeen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Monday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Monday and Tuesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at 12 noon at the Shelby Valley High School Gym with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Baker Cemetery at Dorton, Ky.
