Ralph Varney

Ralph Varney, age 75, passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 at his home. Ralph was born on Aug. 28, 1938 to his parents the late Luke Varney and Herma Varney. Ralph was the husband of Elleyn Cavins Varney, a retired coal miner, and a member of the Grassy Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by one brother, David Varney and two sisters, Jean Layne and Helen Gaye Varney. In addition to his wife, Ralph is survived by two sons, Ralph (Vanessa) Varney Jr., Chad Eric (Lori) Varney, one brother, Rodie (Inez) Varney, three sisters, Lurlie (Clarence) May, Joyce (Burman) Miller, Phyllis (Billy) May, three grandchilren, Tracy Connor Varney, Logan Cacy Varney, and Taylor Fesco, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Grassy Freewill Baptist Church. Church services will be Friday and Saturday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014 at 11a.m. with Brad Williamson, Lester Morris, Larry Goff, Lester Tibbs, and Ronnie Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Varney Cemetery.
