Celia Varney

Celia Varney, age 86, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Ky. Celia was born on Feb. 1, 1928 to her parents the late Ruey Harris and Eva Jane Parker Harris. She was the wife of the late Ted Edward Varney, a retired cook for Garrard County Memorial Hospital, and a believer of the Baptist Faith. Along with her husband and parents, Celia was preceded in death by three children, Patsy Sue Varney Smith, Jake Douglas (J.D.) Varney, Dover Varney, six brothers, and one granddaughter, Sherry Ann Varney. Celia is survived by two sons, Joe E. (Barbara) Varney, Clint (Reginia) Varney, one daughter, Janie (Darrell) Varney Bolton, two sisters, Hattie & Dorothy Cope, thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4p.m. to 8p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Tuesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be at the Graveside, Varney Cemetery at Kimper, Ky., Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 at 1p.m.
