Lona Marie Collins

Lona Marie Little Collins, age 68, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Pikeville Medical Center.  Lona was born on Feb. 3, 1946 to her parents the late William Harrison Newsome and Hulda Jane Little Sowards.  She was the wife of the late Charles Claude Collins, a homemaker, and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.     Along with her husband and parents, Lona was preceded in death by three sons, Roger Dale Collins, Arthur William Collins and Freddy Lee Collins.     Lona is survived by one daughter, Carol Lurl Collins Parsons, five brothers, Eddie Dean Sowards, Anthony Newsome, Jarvie Newsome, Yale Newsome, William (Bill) Newsome, six sisters, Glenda Carol Tackett, Billy Jo Goff, Attie Carol Bryant, Elizabeth Bryant, Gail Thacker, Shelia Newsome, and a host of loving family and friends.     Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Stone Coal Freewill Baptist Church.  Church services will be Wednesday and Thursday at 7p.m.  The funeral will be Friday, April 11, 2014 at 1p.m. at the Stone Coal Freewill Baptist Church with Tommy Webb and Leslie Tackett officiating.  Burial will follow in the Newsome Branch Cemetery at Penny Road.
