Howard D. Wilburn age 77, passed away Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Highlands Regional Medical Center. Howard was born on Feb. 3, 1937 to his parents the late Clifford Wilburn and Maggie May Smallwood Wilburn. Howard was the husband of Martha Justice Wilburn, a coal miner and carpenter, and a believer of the freewill baptist faith. Along with his parents, Howard was preceded in death by one brother, Clifford Jr. Wilburn and one sister, Janet Wilburn Roberts. In addition to his wife, Howard is survived by one daughter, Lora Marie Blackburn, three step children, Robin Belinda Bentley, Tony Curtis Akers, Jimmy Dean Akers, two sisters, Barbara Johnson, Thelma MaGrath, one brother, Curtis Wilburn, eleven grandchildren, Tyler, Candice, Maggie, Danny, Chad, Megan, Ashley, Rebecca, Tosha, Dylan, and Brandi, three great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Toler Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Church services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Thursday May 22, 2014 at 12 noon at the Toler Creek Freewill Baptist Church with Larry Kendrick and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Sturgill Cemetery at Toler Creek.
