Velcie Adkins

Velcie Adkins, age 88, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Velcie was born on Oct. 12, 1925 to her parents the late Joe Adkins and Dolly Ratliff. She was a homemaker and a member of the Wolfpit Comunity Baptist Church. Along with her parents, Velcie was preceded in deth by one son, Jimmy Lee Ratliff, and one sister, Melster. Velcie is survived by three sons, Donald Blake Ratliff, Ronald Wayne Ratliff, Russell Dean Ratliff, two daughters, Janice Mullins, Tammy Sue Bartley, one brother, Chester Adkins, one sister, Hester Clay, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, July 31, at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Joey Sussan officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
