Katie Bernice Oakes

Katie Bernice Oakes, age 72, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the Pikeville Medical Center. She was born on August 16, 1941 to her parents the late Thomas Johnson and Hannah Osborne Johnson. She was a homemaker and a believer of the Freewill Baptist Faith. Along with her parents, Katie was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin Johnson, Jerry D. Johnson, and two sisters, Golda Mullins, and Bessie Mullins. Katie is survived by one daughter, Jerri (Harold Bud) Caldwell, three brothers, Leonard Johnson, Bill Johnson, and Garry C. Johnson, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Saturday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Hubert Potter officiating. Burial will follow in the Tom Johnson Cemetery at Three Mile.
