With deep sorrow, the family of Opal Robinette announces her passing Saturday evening, October 11, 2014 while a patient at the Pikeville Medical Center. She was born in Pike County, Kentucky on February 26, 1928, the youngest of eleven children born to the late Will Burnette and Myrtie Jane Ratliff Burnette. Opal was a lifelong resident of Zebulon, Kentucky, She graduated Johns creek High School in 1946and was valedictorian of her class. Opal married Ferrell Robinette on February 25, 1948. Following his premature death in 1962 she devoted herself to raising their three children. She atended beauty school in Lexington and worked as a hair dresser with her sister June for several years. She also worked as a supervisor for Gibson's Department Store, and Valley Video. She was a member of the Zebulon Church of Christ for 56 years. Opal loved working in her landscape, was an avid gardener and meticulous housekeeping and the pride she had for family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, Opal was preceded in death by her husband Ferrell; a son, Bobby Robinette (1949-2000); a step granddaughter, Angela Maynard; her five brothers, Ernest, Julius, Willard, Warren, and Elster Burnette; and her five sisters, Emma Taylor, Augusta Adams, Martha Pinson, June Bevins, Evoleen Young. She is survived by her son, Gary (Zella) Robinette of Pikeville and daughter, Shirley (Charlie) Hensley of Zebulon; grandchildren, Kristie Robinette, Robby Robinette, Britt Hensley, Scott Hensley, Cody Robinette, one step granddaughter, Elizabeth Moore, five great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many other family members and friends to mourn her passing. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be Tuesday at 4p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. The funeral home will be Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Mausoleum.
