Viola Gillespie

Viola Ellen Ratliff Gillespie, age 87, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Viola was born on May 21, 1927 to her parents the late Kelly Ratliff and Amie Damron Ratliff. She was the wife of the late Sammie Gillespie, a machine operator for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp., and a believer of the Christian Faith. Along with her husband and parents, Viola was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister. Viola is survived by two daughters, Gwen (Tony) Gillespie Alford, Frankie Gillespie Reed, four grandchildren, Joey, Jennifer, Ellen, & Kevin, four great grandchildren, Sami, Jakob, Jayden, and Kayde, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral home. Church services will be Thursday and Friday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014 at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral home with Jimmy Jack Adkins and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Gillespie Cemetery at Greasy Creek.
