Daniel James Adkins

Daniel James Adkins, age 69, passed away Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Daniel was born on October 18, 1945 to his parents the late John Earl Adkins and Oma Coleman Adkins. He was a retired coal miner, a member of the U.M.W.A., and a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church. Along with his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by five brothers, Greg Adkins, Charlie Blair, Johnny Blair, Starkie Adkins, Bob Adkins, and one sister, Alene Blackburn. Daniel is survived by two sons, James Earl (Leisha) Adkins, Thomas Blake (Lisa) Adkins, one daughter, Tyra Kay (Michael) Hall, four brothers, Larry Blair, Ronnie Blair, Freddy Blair,Troy Adkins, one sister, Joyce Blackburn, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Tuesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 1p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Paul Delbert Potter and Steve Knisley officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
