James Carl (Jim) Bowersock, age 85, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Pikeville Medical Center. James was born on May 9, 1929 to his parents the late Richard Bowersock and Lydia Thacker Bowersock. He was the husband of the late Bobbie Ann Hughes Bowersock, a barber, and a member of the Road Creek Church of Christ. He also served his country in the U.S. Marines during Korean War. Along with his wife and parents, James was preceded in death by one daughter, Calista Ann Blackburn, son in law, Kenny Lee Blackburn, and four sisters, Jean Robinson, Mary Gillespie, Opal Robinson, and Evelyn West. James is survived by one son, Barry W. (Lisa) Bowersock, one sister, Jet Ann Robinson, two grandchildren, Jeremy Lee Blackburn, Joshua Carl Blackburn, two great grandchildren, Quincy Grace Blackburn, Conner Lee Blackburn, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Wednesday and Thursday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Friday, Jan. 23, 2015 at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with David Ramey and David Thacker officiating. Burial will follow in the Potter Cemetery.
