Fannie Mae Swiney, age 76, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Fannie was born on May 4, 1938 to her parents the late Barney Hill and Dessie Madden Hill. She was the wife of John Swiney, a homemaker, and a member of the Poor Bottom Freewill Baptist Church. Along with her parents, Fannie was preceded in death by two brothers, James Irvin Hill, Barney Hill Jr., and one sister, Dolly Hill. In addition to her husband, Fannie is survived by two sons, John Kurby (Grace) Swiney, Rodney Dewayne (Connie) Swiney, one daughter, Patricia (Wayne T.) Rutherford, one brother, Douglas Hill, two sisters, Evelyn Glee Coleman, Shelby Jean Swiney, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Friday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Church services will be Friday and Saturday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015 at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Richard Gibson, Dolph Kelly, and others officiating. Burial will be at the Annie E. Young Mausoleum.
