Billy Gene Coleman

April 3, 1936 — March 15, 2015

Billy Gene "Bill" Coleman of Powells Creek, Kentucky went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 15, 2015. Surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born on Wolfpit Creek on April 3, 1936 to Joe and Amy Coleman. He was the third of nine children. He was survived by the love of his life, Shelby, the hero of his daughter Treasa and a second father to his son in law Denny Robinson. Bill was also "Pap" to his grandson, Jason Robinson, great grandson Aaron and great granddaughter, Emily. He was also survived by four sisters, Glenia Mullins of Cardington, Ohio, Deloras Newsom of Cardington, Ohio, Floetta Coleman of Yellowhill, Ky., and Patricia Coleman of Cardington, Ohio. Two brothers, Leonard Coleman of Wolfpit, Ky., and Larry Coleman of Powell, Tn. Being Blesed to find each other when they were young, Bill's brothers and sisters became Shelby's and Shelby's became Bill's. Bill also had numerous nieces and nephews that love and respected him. Grandson, Trent Ellis Robinson, great grandson, Jordan Lee Robinson, his parents Joe and Amy Coleman, one sister, Betty Jo Robinson and brother, Roger Coleman preceded him in death. Bill met Shelby Meade in Hellier High School. Two years later they were married on May 19, 1956 to the sound of baby chicks at the Farm Supply in Pikeville. Bill was a gentle, kind and loving man. He truly cared about all the people that came into his life. He loved spending time with his family. His favorite part of family get togethers was the fellowship which came second only to desserts. Bill's sparkling blue eyes and sweet smile will be missed by everyone that knew him. Bill was saved and then baptized on March 28, 1978 at Grace Baptist Church. He served his church as a deacon and served his Lord by being a light to his family, friends, and community. Bill loved to work shoulder to shoulder with his brother-in-laws and son-in-law at whatever task they undertook. He loved spending countless hours fishing and talking with them. Bill and Shelby loved traveling with family and friends. You never saw them walking that they were not holding hands. When they looked at each other you could see and feel the love between them. They were blessed to have a true and honest love, always have, always will. Bill Coleman was a good man and earned the respect and love of those that knew him. It would feel empty to say Bill without putting Shelby with it. They were a pair and always will be.
