Versel Yates

Versel Yates, age 55, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Versel was born on October 14, 1959 to his parents the late Edgar Yates and Vada Alice Maynard Yates. He was the husband of Wanda Robinson Yates, a former employee for Summit Engineering, and a member of the Island Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his parents, Versel was preceded in death by twin infant brothers, and five brothers, Fonso Gilliam, Terry Clevinger, Albert Yates, Tracy Yates, and Thomas Yates. In addition to his wife, Versel is surivived by four children, three brothers, Carl, David, & George Yates, seven grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Thursday at 6p.m. at the Island Creek Freewill Baptist Church. Church services will be Thursday and Friday at 7p.m. at Island Creek Freewill Baptist. The funeral will be Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 1p.m. at the Apple Orchard Old Regular Baptist Church with Donnie Harris, Adam Akers, and others officiating. Burial will follow in the Apple Orchard Cemetery at Brushy Creek.
