Elster "Slim" Sexton, age 77, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the Providence Homestead Nursing Home in Lexington, Ky. Elster was born June 7, 1937 to his parents the late George Washington Sexton and Rissi Birchfield Sexton. He was the husband of the late Gladys Faye Charles Sexton, a coal miner, and a member of the Grassy Freewill Baptist Church. Along with his wife and parents, Elster was preceded in death by his second wife, Nellie Sexton. Elster is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Lynn Hawkins, Lori Ann Sowards, two sons, Richard Leon Sexton, Steven Dale Sexton, eight brothers, Leonard "Frank", Archie, Robert, Wesley, John, Douglas, Eddie, and Randy Sexton, two sisters, Nancy Fields, Nyoca Westerguard, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday at 6p.m. at the Grassy Freewill Baptist Church Church services will be Tuesday and Wednesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 12 noon at the Grassy Freewill Baptist Church with Brad Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
