Everett Phipps

Everett Phipps, age 87, passed away Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Pikeville Medical Center. Everett was born on Sept. 1, 1927 to his parents the late Walden Phipps and Lula Phipps. He was the husband of Mary Mageline Coleman Phipps, a retired coal miner, and member of the Masonic Lodge and a deacon at Unity Freewill Baptist Church at Rockhouse, Ky. He also served his country honorably in the U.S. Marines. Along with his parents, Everett is preceded in death by one daughter, Lesa Gail Phipps CHilders, four brothers, Clarence Nelson Phipps, Autie Mason Phipps, Vernic Acey Phipps, James Allen Phipps and two sisters, Alva Hick and Alcie Lee Hurt. Along with his wife, Everett is survived by one brother, Raymond Phipps, one sister, Dora DeFossett, two grandchildren, Megan (Christopher) Childress, Matthew Smith, and a host of loving family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6p.m. at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home. Masonic Rites will be Wednesday at 6:30p.m. Church services will begin Wednesday at 7p.m. The funeral will be Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 12 noon at the Lucas & Son Funeral Home with Greg Coleman officiating. Burial will follow in the Arthur & Mary Coleman Cemetery at Rockhouse.
